During the course of production, there are nine different stages at which each ring is inspected either visually or under 10X magnification. |

All diamonds and colored gems are carefully matched for shape, color and size. This step is essential to produce that visual perfection which is so evident in the completed ring. |

M.A.B. uses heavier gold wire to make a ring's prongs, as well as utilizing a cone shape rather than the customary straight prong. This provides strength at the base, securely holding each stone rather than employing heavy prong tips, which might cover too much of the crown for maximum brilliance. This process minimizes loose or lost stones. |

We use heavier ring shanks, preferred by customers 3 to 1. The heavier shanks also allow for a smoother transition of the ring design from the top of the ring to the shank. It's a quality touch appreciated by consumers. |

When channel setting gems, our setters make a straight bright cut with an engraving tool after the walls of the setting are hammered down. This skillful touch requires great care, but there is no other way to produce a clean straight line in a channel setting. |

M.A.B. uses V-Tips on most marquise designs, for a finer look and greater protection to points of the gemstone. V-tips also give more visual continuity to the ring. Again, a more difficult touch to implement but our customers see the advantages. |

We level the tables of gems in their settings to maximize scintillation. In prong setting we cut the bearings and place the gems, then check for level tables before tightening. In channel setting, we start in the middle, cutting each bearing separately, and leveling the gems while working towards the ends. No bearing cuts are visible between gems. |

Careful attention is given by our setters to spacing the gems evenly in channel settings. This is not only important for the appearance of the ring, but improves the life and durability of the gems in the setting. |

Almost all M.A.B.'s men's rings have closed backs and are comfort fits, because we've found men prefer rings with greater weight, the rings are easier to put on and off, and with less surface area touching the finger, there is less chance of irritation. |

M.A.B. heads are soldered on so prongs line up with the ring. Diamonds set straight and look better in an M.A.B. ring. |

We lap every prong and surface in a ring. Polished prongs under the gemstones maximize their brilliance. We hard lap every flat surface and soft lap every round, giving the finished piece the look and feel of custom work. |

Our bridal sets are designed to fit perfectly together. They are fitted as models, and their fit together is checked during manufacture after grinding, after setting, during assembly and in final inspection. Any time the rings are handled mechanically, we check the fit of the set. |

You won't see porosity in M.A.B. rings. We check the wax impressions before casting, our rings after casting, during polishing, and in final inspection to ensure the integrity of the gold in our rings. All castings are vacuum formed. |

M.A.B. double flushes solder to ensure all solder seams are finished without pin holes. Seams are set flush with minimal solder run through the seam, then pickled to eliminate impurities and reflushed. |
